Welcome! Thank you for considering me as your therapist.
Sometimes life changes because of the choices we make and sometimes life changes anyway. The necessary adjustments often challenge our coping skills and what used to work no longer does. This can result in depression and/or anxiety.
I specialize in and particularly enjoy working with adults who are experiencing and adapting to life changes including romantic relationships, work, and parenthood. Therapy presents an opportunity to gain insight, learn, and practice new skills in a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused. We will collaboratively identify treatment goals as well as the steps to reach them. I also integrate Cognitive Therapy, specifically Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing with a Psychodynamic Approach. I believe that insight must be accompanied by the skills to make and maintain change.
I have experience providing individual and group psychotherapy in outpatient mental health clinics, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and a psychiatric rehabilitation program. In addition, I have provided therapeutic services, crisis stabilization, and case management services to families, children, and adolescents involved with the District of Columbia’s child welfare system.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the District of Columbia. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mary Washington College and my Master degree in Social Work with a clinical focus from nearby Catholic University of America’s National Catholic School of Social Service. I have spent the majority of my social work career living and working in Ward 5 and I am excited to continue offering therapeutic services in this community.
